How can I install the theme ?
Just like any other WordPress theme, “The Troller” can be installed in a few minutes.
Follow the steps bellow to install “The Troller”:
· Install WordPress on your server, if you don’t know how to do that please go here - http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress
· go to your WordPress admin panel, and then to “Appearance > Themes”
· click “Install themes” at the top, and then click “Upload”. Browse for “troller.zip” and once you select it click “Install”
· Once the theme is successfully installed you will see the theme options page, click “Save All Settings” once before you visit your new website
· You should disable nested comments for better results ("Settings > Discussion")
If you visit your new website now, you will notice it’s not exactly perfect. The first thing you need to do in order to speed things up is to import the demo content.
· Go to “Tools > Import” (click “WordPress” and install the plugin if you don’t have it), browse for the XML file in folder “demo_content” and then click “Upload file and Import”. Don’t forget to import the attached images by selecting the “Import Attachments” checkbox.
· Now you have all your demo content, so go to “Settings > Reading” and change your home page settings. Your “Front Page” needs to be a “static page”, so select that. Your “Front Page” will be “Home” and your “Posts page” will be “Blog”. You can also change the number of posts that are displayed on your blog page here. Click “Save Changes” once done.
· This theme supports “WordPress Menus”, so go to “Appearance > Menus” and make sure the dropdown shows “Main Menu” in your "Main Menu" location (top left, in “Theme Locations”). Add the other two menus in the right places in case they are not (the location has the same name as the menu).
After your theme has been activated you will see two new menus on your admin sidebar. One of those is called “Slider Items”, and if you click it you will be able to add new items (click “Add New” at the top).
Each slider item needs to have a title, a short description (Excerpt), and a featured image. The image will be resized by WordPress but for the best results you should use an image that’s 800px wide and 420px tall.
Go to “Portfolio Items > Add New” and create a new item. Give it a title and a featured image. Publish your new item and that’s it.
You can also create new "Portfolios", for that go to "Portfolio Items > Portfolios" and click "Add New".
Remember the "slug" because you will need to add it on the gallery/portfolio page, at the bottom in the "Page Settings" metabox.
If you leave that field blank the page will show all your portfolio items assigned to all categories or to none.
If you want to use the default contact form, all you need to do is set your email address. To do that go to “Theme Options” and click “Contact Settings”, the first field is for your email address.
The contact icon present in the top right corner of the theme uses the same email address as your contact form.
If you want to change your permalink structure, make sure you “flush” your permalinks after. You can do that by clicking “Settings > Permalinks”.
This theme doesn't include any shortcode structures, but you have a lot of elements you can use with ease (icons, columns, tables, lists), and all of them are included in the demo content XML file.
You can have up to 6 columns in one row (oneHalf, oneThird, oneFourth, oneFifth, oneSixth), and the last column always receives the "lastColumn" class too.
This theme supports widgets, you can add as many as you need to your "Main Sidebar" and they will appear at the bottom of the following pages: "single post", "blog", "archive".
