iOS15 Safari Tab Bar on our Mobile Kits & PWAs
Apple made some significant changes in Safari for their latest iOS15 update. This includes the re-design of the Tab Bar / Search Bar. Now, it is not at the top of the page, as we were used to it, but at the bottom of the page, adopting a detached design. Many people are concerned on how this would affect the fixed bottom elements, such as footer menus, action sheets or cookie boxes. So here are some instances on the iOS15 Safari Tab Bar on our Mobile Kits & PWAs!
Future Proof Code
We always think about the future when coding our products, which means flexibility is our top priority. Moreover, we are always up to date with the latest technologies and CSS3, and it always pays off. Here’s why:
While coding Sticky, Appkit, Azures and other best selling products (all Bootstrap 5 products that use a footer menu), we used the env() CSS3 Function for the iPhone notch and the dock (the menu bar at the bottom of any app or PWA).
The use of the env() function was not a requirement, however, it was the best practice to make sure we create the best user experience and interface for you. But now, it is an absolute necessity.
Luckily, all of you who’ve purchased and used one of our Bootstrap 5 products can basically enjoy the new tab bar without any problems. Considering this is Apple’s 1st iOS15 Developer beta, the beta itself is still highly buggy. However, even with the bugs coming from Apple’s first release, the Footer Bar, Action Sheets, Cookie boxes and every other fixed element to the bottom of the page is working perfectly and as expected.
